AVAILABLE INCENTIVES

The intention of the Government of the day is to make the State, a leading agribusiness hub in Nigeria, especially by initiating strategies that could enhance agricultural development, create jobs and guarantee food security. Its target is to create over 150,000 jobs through the agri-business initiative within the next four years.

The Government has unveiled some economic strategies through an ad hoc committee under the Agriculture Empowerment Initiative to revamp agriculture in the state through the following available incentives.

 

PROVIDING SECURITY

 Creating a secured environment in the State for Public, Private Partnership (PPP) to strive successfully.

 

AVAILABILITY OF ARABLE LANDS FOR USAGE

The Government of Edo State is interested in Developing and supporting Agriculture/Agribusiness in the State by launching an aggressive agriculture and agribusiness development program.

So far the state government had gone round the state to put together a land bank of more than 250,000 hectares. Cultivate 5,000 hectares of maize located in 5 Local Government Areas of the State producing at least 25,000 metric tons of maize in the first year.

 

JOB CREATION

Generation of employment for the teeming youth population of the State. Create between 50,000 to 80,000 agricultural jobs before the end of the year in five Local Government Areas. Wealth creation through agricultural activities that will lead to the creation of 2000 millionaire Agripreneurs who will in turn generate jobs for at least 30,000 youths across each units of the state and food security for the over 4million people of the State.

 

TECHNOLOGY

Apply modern agricultural techniques in order to improve production as an alternative means to generate income. Improve and obtain modern technology-mechanization, characterization using technology

 

INFRASTRUCTURE

Establishment of another 1,000 Greenhouse Farm producing 4,000 metric tons of tomatoes yearly, piggery producing 30,000 animals annually, Golden Cocoa Program primed to turn the State into a major cocoa producing state in the country by improving yield by more than 50% in the first year of implementation.
